Nature Nurtures

This project is the culmination of 15 weeks of integrative research and long-form design process. Nature Nurtures focuses on bringing outdoor accessibility to the students of Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont. Here I detail my project, and walk through some of the process I went through during the duration of this project.

The goal of this project is to help connect students at Champlain College to resources to motivate them to get outside, but also provide alternative, more accessible options.

To make this project a reality, I decided upon two deliverables that I wanted to present. The first was to build a guidebook detailing accessible activities that will be handed out in welcome packets to incoming students who will be new to the area.

I have provided the full PDF for the guidebook below, please feel free to look through it.

The second deliverable consists of a formal letter to the president of Champlain College proposing that indoor green spaces be implemented on the campus to not only give students a green space to work in, but also allow students who might have accessibility issues a simulated nature environment.

I believe this project will provide students with an outlet to help better their own mental health. The guidebook will provide useful information to students to find outdoor areas, and having indoor nature murals provides an area for students who might have accessibility issues and a green space during the winter months as well.
